About Us

Kawaihae (pronounced Ka-why-e-hi) Outrigger Canoe Club Ballina, was established in late November 2004 by a group of outrigger canoeing enthusiasts. Sick of travelling to the Gold Coast to get regular practice with established clubs or participation in paddling events, and with a desire to see the sport represented in our own beautiful part of Australia, we decided to put in the energy and establish a club for the region.

We rely greatly upon the commitment of all our members to help make this club successful.

Kawaihae's Vision

Building the spirit of outrigging within our club with inspired and committed club members and intra-club events, and to use this spirit to encourage recreational, social, family and competitive involvements from within our local community
